Ford’s sole local distribution partner in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) reported its first-half Ranger performance gaining 1.7 percentage points from the same period last year to 17.2 percent in the pickup segment.
“The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger continues to earn the favour of customers across the country and build on its growing success in the market,” said Truong Kim Phong, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
“Ranger sales are growing steadily as it continues to attract a wide range of customers who are looking for a versatile vehicle that is suitable for both work and play,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Bin Syed Faiz, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion.
“We’re confident that the Ford Ranger will continue to drive our momentum in Malaysia and we remain committed to continuously enhance our customer and ownership experience,” added Muzri.
Ford Ranger was recently named ‘2019 Malaysia Pick-up Truck of the Year’ at the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Awards. It has proven in many ways to be the industry benchmark in the pickup truck segment, surpassing its respective competitors based on the Awards’ criteria, which included growth, market share, marketing strategy, selling points and key competitive advantages.
The Frost & Sullivan Award is the latest in a string of significant accolades the Ranger has received in Malaysia, including most recently the ‘Best Pickup Trucks of Malaysia’ 2019 at the Cars of Malaysia Awards, ‘Pickup Truck of the Year’ at the 2019 DSF.my Allianz Vehicle of the Year Awards (VOTY), ‘Pickup Truck of the Year’ at the 2018 Malaysia Car of the Year (COTY) awards, Gold for ‘Pickup Truck of the Year’ at the Carlist.my People’s Choice Awards & Editors’ Choice Award 2018, and TopGear Chinese Editor’s Choice Pick-up Truck of the Year Awards 2018.
